Solskjaer’s Statement after Manchester United’s victory at the Manchester Derby

DBasia.news –  Manchester United won the Manchester Derby against Manchester City. Nevertheless, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was reluctant to think about his team’s current standings.

Manchester United won 1-2 when they traveled to the headquarters of Manchester City in the 2019-2020 Premier League match, at the Etihad Stadium, Sunday (7/12) local time. Man United took the first two goals with a penalty from Marcus Rashford (23 ‘) and Anthony Martial (29’).

Being left behind two goals, Manchester City pounded Manchester United’s defense. In total, The Citizens fired 22 shots. However, of that amount, only one tore David de Gea’s goal, which was Nicolas Otamendi’s attempt five minutes during the end of the game.

The victory has made Manchester United rise to fifth place in the standings. Man United is five points clear of Chelsea, who sit in fourth place or the final limit of the Champions League zone.

Although getting closer to the target of qualifying for the Champions League, Solskjaer has no objections. He considered, Manchester United could still develop more.

“I feel it’s still too early to talk about position in the standings for now. We are focusing on developing as a team,” Solskjaer commented on MUTV.

“We must continue to believe in what is being done. We also have to play as desired, which is to defend and attack as a team,” continued the manager.

“Hopefully with that, our position in the standings will go up by itself,” stated the Norwegian manager.

The victory against Man City has more meaning for Solskjaer. He placed the match on the list of favorite duels.

“This match is one of my favorite matches just like against Paris Saint-Germain. Tonight I am thrilled and happy to see supporters rejoicing. So, enjoy your victory today,” Solskjaer continued.
