South East Asian Teams Falling

DBasia.news – Two South East Asian teams, Malaysia and Thailand, kicked in the group phase of 2018 U16 Asian Cup. Both teams failed to qualify for the quarter-final after the failure in the recent match in Group A.

Malaysia got defeated by 0-2 from Japan at Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Malaysia, Thursday (2/9). Shoji Toyama (37′) and Hikaru Naruoka (90+4′) scored both goals for Japan.

Previously, Malaysia won 6-2 against Tajikistan before the match against Thailand 2-4 in the second match. Malaysia summed up the group phase with three points.

While Thailand got defeated 1-2 from Tajikistan in the last match of Group A at UM Arena Stadium. Thailand left behind by the goal from Panzhiev Ozodbek (39′) before Suphanat Muenta (81′) equalized the score.

U16 Thailand national team got defeated by the goal from Kamolov Amadoni (83′). This failure keep Thailand with three points from the victory of the second match against Malaysia or after the 2-5 defeat from Japan.

Japan and Tajikistan secured the ticket for Group A quarter-final. Japan became the group champion with 7 points, while Tajikistan as the runner-up with 4 points.

Both matches conducted in the morning after the delay due to big rain for the match between Thailand against Tajikistan on Wednesday (26/9) night. Similarly, the match between Malaysia against Japan also postponed.

There are only U16 Indonesia and Vietnam left as the representative from South East Asian. Indonesia just need the draw result against India to qualify, after the 4 points from 2 matches.

U16 Indonesia national team won 2-0 against Iran before played 1-1 against Vietnam in Group C. Meanwhile, Vietnam got defeated 0-1 against India before the draw.
