Spit on Opposing Players, Angel Di Maria Prohibited from Performing in Four Matches

DBasia.news – Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel di Maria has been suspended for four matches for committing dishonorable acts against opposing players. Di Maria is known to have spat on Olympique Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez in their defeat in Ligue 1, on Sunday (13/09).

The incident occurred near the end of PSG’s defeat to Marseille, the match began to heat up when five players were sent off.

At that time, Di Maria did not receive a red card because the incident escaped the referee’s observation. This penalty was given to the 32-year-old player, after the French League Agency (LFP) evaluated the game record.

Di Maria’s suspension was only active in the next match against Angers. The Argentine player will certainly not be able to strengthen PSG in the matches against Angers on (03/10), Nimes (18/10), and Dijonn (25/10).

However, apart from Di Maria, the punishment from the LFP will also befall Neymar and Alvaro Gonzalez on 30 September. Currently, Neymar has served a two-match suspension for hitting Gonzalez.

Meanwhile, Gonzalez also received a long sentence if he was proven to have racially abused Neymar. Gonzalez is accused of making racist statements against Neymar.

Initially, Di Maria joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2015 after having had a difficult year with Manchester United.

With PSG, Di Maria made 41 appearances in all competitions last season and has scored 13 goals. This record is also an important figure in PSG’s journey to the Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

Di Maria has made 224 appearances in total, scoring 83 goals as PSG have claimed four Ligue 1 titles during his time in France.
