Sporting Lisbon Successfully Defended a Valuable Player: Bruno Fernandes

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Had been linked with Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Tottenham Hotspur, Bruno Fernandes finally stayed with Sporting Lisbon. Federico Varandas, President of Sporting, outlines the reasons for his club’s success in guarding it.

Bruno Fernandes became a fairly in-demand player in the summer transfer market. Clubs like Juventus, Manchester United, to Real Madrid are interested in picking it up.

Tottenham Hotspur became the club that was predicted to be the most likely to land the attacking midfielder from Sporting. However, until the transfer window was closed, Bruno Fernandes was still in Sporting costume.

The President of Sporting released an explanation describing in detail the policies the club had taken in the transfer market. Including maintaining Bruno Fernandes.

“We only lost one starter and retained one of the best midfielders in Europe,” said Frederico Varandas on the club’s official website on Thursday (5/9).

“We managed to retain the most valuable player, Bruno Fernandes. I think the current team is more competitive than before.”

The president also explained that initially, he was pessimistic in defending Fernandes after hearing that many were interested. But in reality, only Tottenham was serious.

Varandas explained, Tottenham made an offer that he considered absurd. Tottenham offered 45 million euros plus a bonus of 20 million euros if Spurs won the double title, the Premier League and Champions League.

The problem for Varandas is that the bonus liquid conditions are fairly impossible. “That is a difficult target, so we decided to reject their offer,” he said.

Apparently, the player himself considered Tottenham’s offer to be absurd. That’s why he wants to accept to stay at Sporting.

“I explained to him the reasons for refusing Tottenham’s offer and why he had to endure. He understood completely. He also understood Tottenham’s offer was very unfair,” said Varandas.
