Ter Stegen Becomes the Savior Figure for Barcelona

DBasia.news – With a height of 1.87 meters and a large figure under the crossbar, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is considered a commanding successor for Manuel Neuer in the German national team.
Joachim Low’s decision that didn’t immediately make Ter Stegen the German number one keeper remains a mystery. In fact, it is obvious that Neuer’s performance has declined and the Bayern Munich goalkeeper has been in and out of the treatment room more often because of an injury.
“A goalkeeper like a cathedral.” As Sport wrote in their headlines when Barcelona took home one point from their trip to San Mames, the headquarters of Athletic Club Bilbao.
It’s never been easy for any club to take home a point from the haunted headquarters. The Basque club always know how to make opponents frustrated there.
Lionel Messi, Ousmane Dembele, Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho, knelt to the Lion of the Basque. But, there was one figure who stood tall and tamed the lions. Yes, he is Ter Stegen.
Five rescues were carried out against Bilbao, two of which were carried out when they missed opportunities for Raul Garcia’s overhead kick and Inaki Williams’s close-range strike.
A point from San Mames may not be what Barca expected, but at least, keep a distance from Real Madrid – both six points adrift at LaLiga.
“It’s always good to get one point against a team like Barcelona, but our chances are better and create a lot of dangerous moments, Ter Stegen is sensational,” said Gaizka Garitano, coach of Bilbao.
“They have a great goalkeeper who does two saves, but we are happy with one point and the performance that our players have done.”
