DBasia.news –  The 55-year-old coach, Ernesto Valverde, signed a new contract during the season with Barcelona, plus an extended season option. Barcelona announced it on their official website.

Although Barca did not tie it to a long-term contract, Valverde’s new contract was responded to with a different assessment from many Barcelona fans. The pros and cons accompany it and lead to the civil war of Barca fans on social media.

Some who disagreed Valverde extended his contract to question the reason the club did it, some also gave GIFs (moving images), to write “RIP tiki-taka” which could be interpreted as the end of the era of tiki-taka.

Some even directly enliven the #ValverdeOut hashtag as a form of disappointment. Valverde, despite presenting a LaLiga and Copa del Rey title in his first season training Barca, was disliked by some fans for not continuing the tradition of the club.

Barca’s game in the Valverde era tended to leave the tradition of a dynamic, moving, and entertaining game. The lack of player rotation and dependence on Lionel Messi, are also some reasons fans don’t like Valverde.

They also still remember both the dramatic and bitter moments of last season in the Champions League quarter-finals. Against AS Roma, Barca, who had won 4-1 in the first leg, surprisingly lost 3-0 in the second leg at the Stadio Olimpico.

Barca did not have an ‘answer’ from the match and Roma showed their mentality when they killed La Pulga. Valverde, in that match, was judged not to have the ability to change the match results with changes in tactics from the players in the squad.

But not all fans questioned Barca’s decision to extend Valverde’s contract. The Twitter account holder @ MustafaM6501 sees the positive side of Valverde, who developed Arthur’s potential, Ousmane Dembele, Samuel Umtiti, Carles Alena.

“A hater will still be a hater, but he changed the club from disaster and led the development of Arthur, Dembele, Umtiti, (Marc-Andre) Ter Stegen, (Jordi) Alba, Alena,” he said from @ MustafaM6501.

Looking at a year contract proposal and an option to extend for another year, it is seen indications Barcelona will assess Valverde’s performance from the level of success in the Champions League title, which was last achieved in the 2014-15 season.
