Thiago Silva made a blunder, Frank Lampard didn’t want to blame him
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Chelsea’s poor defense, which conceded three goals in just 30 minutes at home to West Bromwich, has made Chelsea manager Frank Lampard speak up.
Thiago Silva made his Premier League debut as captain. The experience and ability of the Brazilian defender is expected to improve the quality of Chelsea’s defense.
However, Silva actually made one of the worst mistakes of his career. The former Paris Saint-Germain diverted his view from the ball, which made him fail to control it properly.
As a result, the ball was taken by Callum Robinson to score West Brom’s second goal. Then, Kyly Bartley’s goal in the 27th minute left Chelsea three goals behind without reply.
However, Lampard did not want excessively be furious at Silva. According to him, the defender still needs time to adapt.
“He will be extraordinary for us. He has great things in terms of career and I’m sure he will be open to seeing these mistakes. However, it’s not all because of him,” said Lampard as reported by the Daily Mail.
Based on data from Opta Joe, Thiago Silva was the first player to make a mistake, thus becoming a goal on his debut in the Premier League since Issa Diop did it with West Ham against Arsenal in August 2018.
“We are a team that must respond to these problems. He will admit his mistake. It is the first match for Silva in the Premier League,” continued the manager.
Frank Lampard guarantees Thiago Silva will receive more opportunities to appear when his fitness levels improve.
“I will not blame the players. However, the fact that we made mistakes will be a spur to make up for it,” he stated.
Luckily, Chelsea was able to equalize in the second half. The three goals for the Blues came from Mason Mount (55 ‘), Callum Hudson-Odoi (70’) and Tammy Abraham (90 + 2 ‘).
