DBasia.news – Thibaut Courtois straightened out his remarks about Barcelona being champion if the league was stopped. Courtois also told how Real Madrid practices.
As reported previously, the Madrid goalkeeper reaped controversy after arguing that it would be unfair if Barcelona were awarded the title if the league was stopped with 11 matches remaining. According to Courtois, Madrid is a better team because Barca have never beaten his team in the league this season; Madrid won 2-0 at El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu, after a 0-0 draw at Camp Nou.
Courtois’ comments were later replied by former Barcelona employee Cesc Fabregas. Courtois only emphasized that Madrid still had the same chance of a champion from the Blaugrana. In the standings, El Real is only two points behind the defending champion.
“I’m not saying that Real Madrid should be declared champions,” Courtois told Espanola Television, as quoted by Marca. “When the league ends, we are in a better position even if we lose against Betis.”
“If we play the remaining 11 matches, then I’m sure my team can win the league,” said the international Belgian goalkeeper.
A number of clubs including Madrid have begun to allow their players to do independent training. Bearing in mind the Spanish League plans which are rolled out starting next month.
“We have to wear gloves and masks, two meters away from each other. This is an individual exercise and we have to eradicate germs in everything,” Courtois continued.
“It’s strange, it’s different from usual but the feeling with grass and being able to return to training is better than nothing,” said the former Atletico Madrid and Chlsea retainer.
