DBasia.news – The utilization of VAR is trending. This time happens in LaLiga. Barcelona felt the disadvantage by VAR usage. In contrary, Real Madrid felt the benefit of VAR this week.
In the match between Madrid against Espanyol, the referee finally legalized Marco Asensio’s only goal of Los Blancos after examining the VAR. Previously, the Espanyol players protested the goal considering Asensio’s offside position.
Meanwhile, Barcelona got the contrary situation. Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet was kicked from the pitch for hitting Girona player, Pere Pons, at 35′. The decision was taken after the referee Jesus Gil Manzano used the VAR.
The referee’s decision made Barcelona coach Ernest Valverde mad. Valverde assumed Lenglet didn’t do anything wrong.

“It was a bit of a surprise for me. In the end, we thought that VAR is to solve the huge problems, where the referee might be accused by the media of a mistake. But we are trying to come to terms with VAR,” Valverde said reported by Soccerway.
“I was really surprised by the final decision of the referee. I struggle to think it was Lenglet’s fault. Perhaps he was trying to protect himself, but it was never an elbow,” he added.
“Even the Girona player, Pere Pons, tried to apologize to Lenglet. For me, it’s never a sending off, but I see it through the eyes of my team.”
The match ended with a 2-2 score. Lionel Messi (19′) and Gerard Pique (63′) score Blaugrana’s goals. Meanwhile, the away team got the goals from Christian Stuani (45′ and 51′).
Now, Barcelona still lead the temporary standing with 13 points. However, the point is similar with the runner-up, Real Madrid.
