Victory over Slavia Is a Form of Dortmund’s frustration
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Borussia Dortmund defeated Slavia Prague at the Sinobo Stadium, Prague, Czech Republic with a score of 2-0 in the Champions League Group F second match, Thursday (3/10). Dortmund’s victory over Slavia Prague is a form of relief due to the defeat of the previous match draw.
Dortmund captain, Marco Reus, who represented his colleagues, said he was still upset over the goalless draw when entertaining Barcelona two weeks ago.
“We are not satisfied with the previous results. We are playing as usual, with full understanding that Slavic teams are strong when appearing at home,” Reus said in a full-time commentary quoted by the official UEFA website.
“We are facing that challenge and should be able to double the advantage early on,” he stated.
Left-back, Achraf Hakimi, became the hero of Dortmund’s victory by scoring up two goals, one each in the 35th minute and the other a minute before the normal time of the second half match ended.
Praise was also made by Dortmund manager, Lucien Favre, who considered Slavia to have performed very well throughout the match, even though his team eventually won 2-0.
“Slavia is a very good team, they moved a lot and did things well,” Favre said.
“But in the end we were able to win 2-0,” he added.
The win lifted Dortmund’s position to temporarily be on top of the standings by winning four points, displacing Slavia (1) to second, while waiting for the results of another match between Barcelona (1) against Inter Milan (1).
