DBasia.news – Liverpool failed to reach full points while visiting Goodison Park, Everton’s headquarters, in the 29th week of the Premier League, Sunday (3/3) evening WIB. Liverpool are now just one point adrift of Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.
Liverpool and Man City are the two racehorses to win the 2018/19 Premier League title. In the remainder of the last nine Premier League matches, everything can still happen – both Man City and Liverpool have the chance to win.
Georginio Wijnaldum, Liverpool midfielder, acknowledged the pressure for the Premier League title to be a new thing for Liverpool. Nevertheless, Liverpool is believed to be trying to pressure Man City as the pursuing team at this time.
“This (fact) is difficult to accept because everyone wants to be at the top of the standings. But, I don’t want to say it is a setback,” said Wijnaldum on Sky Sports.
“It’s normal if we are disappointed, but that’s the situation and we have to accept it. We will train hard and make sure we win the rest of the match. We have to look good and try to win every game because City will do the same.”
In the position of pursuer, Liverpool must be able to sweep away the remaining games as a victory while waiting or hoping Man City to lose points, so they can return to the top of the standings.
“I don’t know (it’s better to be a pursuer or being pursued). We have to see if it is more profitable for us (or not). This is always difficult to say,” Wijnaldum added.
“I think they are accustomed to pressure. For us this is new. We just have to make sure that in the remaining nine matches we put everything, and see what happens later,” added the Dutchman.
