By db-admin
DBasia.news – Spain and England have different fates in the inaugural match of the 2022 European Zone World Cup Qualification, Friday (26/3/2021).
England hosted San Marino at Wembley Stadium and won 5-0 through two goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin (21′, 53′), Raheem Sterling (31′), Ollie Watkins (83′) and James Ward-Prowse (14′).
England is too dominant with 85 percent possession of the ball, 32 attempted kicks and 15 shots on target against their opponents. The difference in quality and experience between the two teams is a big gap that determines the final result of the match.
England temporarily topped the Group I standings above Albania, Poland, Hungary, Andorra and San Marino. England collect the same points with Albania.
Meanwhile in Group B Spain failed to take advantage of the host status in Los Carmenes against the 2004 European Cup winners, Greece. La Furia Roja was only able to pick one point from a 1-1 draw with Alvaro Morata (33 ‘) who was answered by Anastasios Bakasetas (56’) penalty.
Luis Enrique’s men dominated 80 percent of the ball, shooting nine kicks and only two on target. Meanwhile, a Greek kick and opportunity on target resulted in one goal.
Spain stuck in third place in Group B with one point, behind Sweden (three points), Greece, and above Kosovo and Georgia. Meanwhile, two other teams, namely Germany won 3-0 over Iceland and Italy defeated Northern Ireland with a score of 2-0.
