2018 Asian Games Drawing Won’t Be Repeated
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Head of the 2018 Asian Games Organizing Committee, Erick Thohir, didn’t agree about re-drawing for football. Erick assumed the mistake was on the country that didn’t fulfill the deadline, which is the Uni Arab Emirates and Palestine.
Previously, the drawing was conducted in JS Luwansa & Convention Center (5/7). But the drawing result isn’t verified by Olympiad Committee Asia yet, due to protest from the Uni Arab Emirates and Palestine to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
Official letter from AFC also sent to Erick. But, in his reply, INASGOC wanted the re-drawing just for the Uni Arab Emirates and Palestine.
“If the AFC asked for re-drawing due to the Uni Arab Emirates and Palestine, we as the committee rejected the plan. If they wanted to enter, do the pool draw, not the total drawing. But AFC will decide. We will fight for Indonesia,” said Erick in Wisma Serbaguna INASGOC.
“My answer was asking for drawing alternative. The final decision is on AFC, we want to be a good host by trying,” he continued.
The drawing result of 2018 Asian Games included 24 countries in 6 groups, each with 4 teams. Indonesia belongs to Group A along with Hong Kong, Laos, and Taiwan.
