DBasia.news – The Belgian national team star, Toby Alderweireld, said that he would still play for Tottenham Hotspur in the upcoming 2019-20 season. At present, the contract from Toby Alderweireld has a release clause of 25 million pounds which will expire next week. The small number in the player’s contract made him rumored to be close to AS Roma in the summer transfer window this year.
“There are still clubs that can redeem the release clause that I have. But, at this time I was only focused on defending Spurs. I am sure I will play for Spurs at the opening party of the Premier League next season,” explained Alderweireld.
“But, many things can happen quickly in the world of football. But, now I want to defend Spurs and will try to stay fit and play in the opening party of the Premier League,” continued the 30-year-old man.
Alderweireld was appointed as captain when Tottenham faced Juventus at the International Champions Cup a few days ago. That made Alderweireld confident that Mauricio Pochettino would give him more confidence next season.
