Barcelona’s New Defender Clause May Be High In the Future
By news-admin
DBasia.news – FC Barcelona has successfully secured the France defender, Clement Lenglet. The 23-year-old player is the second recruitment of Barcelona during the summer transfer market, following Arthur Melo from Gremio.
Two players left, being replaced with the new recruitments. Previously, Paulinho and Andres Iniesta left Barca. Lenglet was recruited from Sevilla. Based on the news by Barcelona official site (12/7), Barca got the transfer clause for €300M or around Rp5 trillion.
Lenglet was plotted as the future tandem of Barca’s defensive line with his compatriot, Samuel Umtiti.
Lenglet has been targetted by Barcelona since he came to La Liga with Seville in 2017. His consistency in playing is one of the superiorities of the 1,87-tall defender.
Last season, Lenglet played 54 times with 4 goals and 1 assist. Not only playing consistently, Lenglet also combines his talent to read the strategy and handling airball.
Lenglet also has one signature style favored by Barcelona: great in handling the ball and attacking from the defensive line. His typical strategy is suitable for Barcelona’s football philosophy.
“Lenglet, who is left-footed, stands out for his good touch and his combination of strength, intelligence, and, above all, ball skills. This last quality will surely help him on a team like Barça, on which play is defined from the very first touch of the goalkeeper,” said the statement in Barca official site.
After Arthur and Lenglet, Barca can focus to buy another midfielder who will fill Iniesta or Paulinho position. It is predicted that Barca will buy Adrien Rabiot from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
