Bayern Munchen

DBasia.news –  Lothar Matthaus, Bayern Munich legend, assesses his former club needs a big investment next summer after a 1-3 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League.

“I believe it is appropriate to invest in players who can make a difference. Bayern failed to get this quality in the transfer market before this season (started),” said Matthaus.

“They realize against Liverpool that they need to invest. That’s why I think it’s true that clubs are now spending money on getting new, qualified players to compete internationally with big clubs in England, Spain, and Italy.”

Matthaus said it after Bayern broke the club transfer record by recruiting Lucas Hernandez for 80 million euros from Atletico Madrid. Hernandez was recruited after Bayern secured the services of his compatriot, Benjamin Pavard, from Stuttgart.

Full-backs position (left-right defender) of Bayern have been secured. Pavard was made a competitor for Joshua Kimmich at right-back and allowed Rafinha to leave for another club.

While Lucas, who can play as a left and center back, will compete with David Alaba for the left back post, as well as Mats Hummels or Jerome Boateng if Niko Kovac chooses to place him as a central defender.

Lucas-Pavard is not just qualified or has the status of 2018 World Cup champion with the French national team. Keep in mind, both of them are Bayern’s long-term investments because their age hasn’t reached 25 years – both are 23 years old.

Bayern successfully recruited both. But they are not the last players to come to the Allianz Arena next season. Uli Hoeness, President of Bayern, has confirmed that his club will make the biggest investment in Bayern’s history.

“We are in the process of rebuilding the squad and next summer we will make the biggest investment in Bayern’s recruitment and history,” Hoeness said. Reportedly, Bayern has a dowry of 200 million euros to spend in the summer.

Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern Sports Director, will be very busy looking for players who are needed by the team to improve performance. Bayern as if not to be outdone by the Los Galacticos project volume III Real Madrid.

Their search would not stop at Pavard and Lucas. Reportedly, Bayern will try to give an offer of 75 million euros to Bayer Leverkusen to recruit a 19-year-old midfielder, Kai Havertz.

Added the news published by Bild, Bayern are also alleged to have reached an agreement with RB Leipzig about the transfer of Timo Werner whose contract expires next year.

In addition to Havertz and Werner, Bayern also included Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea), Hakim Ziyech (Ajax Amsterdam), and Luka Jovic (Eintracht Frankfurt), on the list of targeted players. They will replace some senior squad players.

For example Arjen Robben. The 35-year-old wing forward will leave Bayern at the end of the season after 10 years strengthening the team. Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, until Hudson-Odoi, was plotted to replace him.

In short, Bayern, which only spends 10-15 million euros to recruit Alphonso Davies from the Vancouver Whitecaps, and free Leon Goretzka from Schalke, in the 2018-19 season, will be a lot of spending in the 2019-20 season.

Bayern did it because of Liverpool. Without a landslide defeat from the Reds, plus the helplessness of Bayern facing Jurgen Klopp’s forces, the Bavarian giant will not necessarily invest heavily in the summer.
