Cahill and Drinkwater’s Uncertain Fate

By news-admin

DBasia.news – Chelsea continued their winning moment by sweeping the three matches of Premier League with three points. The three consecutive victories achieved during the match against Huddersfield Town (3-0), Arsenal (3-2), and Newcastle United (2-1).

Maurizio Sarri’s football philosophy in the three maches isn’t really seen. However, it can be seen by his squad choice this season with 4-3-3 scheme. Eden Hazard, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Marcos Alonso will play as the starter.

From the three matches, the other players’ fate is still questioned in Chelsea. Gary Cahill, Danny Drinkwater, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are three England players with uncertain fate in Chelsea. Compared to Loftus-Cheek still listen in Chelsea’s squad, Cahlill and Drinkwater are worse, they disappeared.

Both players issued to leave. However Telegraph reported (28/8), Cahill and Drinkwater will stay at Stamford Bridge to compete for the main position in the regular squad, at least until the winter transfer market on January. If the situation remains the same, they might leave.

Drinkwater, though he joined Chelsea preseason tour, faced difficulty in the central line of The Blues who already have Kante, Jorginho, Cesc Fabregas, Mateo Kovacic, Loftus-Cheek, and Ross Barkley. The former Leicester City midfielder wasn’t included in Sarri’s squad at all.

The same thing goes to Cahill. The 32-year-old central midfielder loss his playing position from his rival, David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger, and Andreas Christensen. However, Cahill is Chelsea’s captain who has been playing in the club since 2012 and got two Premier League titles, one Champions League, Europa League, and FA Cup.

Chaill is appointed as the captain to replace John Terry. According to Sarri, he explained it’s difficult for Cahill to integrate with the squad because he just came to Chelsea after the additional holiday after the participation in 2018 World Cup.

“I think that, in this moment, for a defender it’s more difficult to play in my team after only 20 days of training. It’s easier for an offensive player. So I think that, at this moment, he needs to have a lot more defensive training with us. I’ve spoken to him, I told him that he needs to be patient now but that he is very important for us,” Sarri said.

September, Octover, November, and December. Four months will be the deadline for Cahill and Drinkwater in Chelsea in competing for the main squad in Chelsea.
