Eden Hazard became the architect of Chelsea’s second goal which was scored by Pedro when the game went on for an hour. After that, Hazard scored two goals in the 65th and 72nd minutes.
This is the sixth European competition trophy won by Chelsea. Previously, the Blues won the 1971 and 1998 Cup Winners’ Cup, 1998 European Super Cup, 2012 Champions League, and the 2013 Europa League.
There is a little red thread from Chelsea’s success on the previous five occasions. Of these, three of them were won with managers from Italy.
Gianluca Vialli was Chelsea manager when he won the 1998 Winners’ Cup and the 1998 European Super Cup. Meanwhile, Roberto Di Matteo led the Blues to the 2012 Champions League trophy.
Now, Chelsea won the trophy again in European competition thanks to male leadership from Italy. The person in question is the current manager, Maurizio Sarri.
With the achievement of six European competition trophies, four of which are donations from managers from Italy. That is, about 60 percent of the total trophies on the Blue Continent won by Chelsea.
In addition, this was the first trophy in Maurizio Sarri’s managerial career. Previously, Sarri’s highest achievement was to become Serie A runner-up with Napoli.
Now, there are a total of six Italian managers who have been Chelsea managers. The six are Gianluca Vialli, Claudio Ranieri, Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto Di Matteo, Antonio Conte, and Maurizio Sarri.
Of the six managers, three of them presented the European trophy. Thus, 50 percent of managers are from Italy who handles Chelsea succeed on the continental scene.
