DBasia.news –  The consistency of Manchester United’s play is the concern of the 29-year-old senior defender, Chris Smalling. He consideres that the Red Devils must fix the matter in the new season if they want to compete in the top flight of the Premier League standings.

Man United ended the 2018/19 season without a trophy – for the second season in a row – and finished sixth in the Premier League standings (outside the Champions League zone). All of that, according to Smalling, happened because Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team did not play consistently.

“I think consistency (what United needs in the 2019 season). It’s clear since Ole came, the consistency of our play has increased, but I think we know there are still a lot of things to be done,” Smalling said on Goal.

“Together with Ole and the coaching staff, we will undergo a preseason full of working on many things. Hopefully during pre-season, we can show what we really prepared to go through the season.”

“We also have to play more consistently because if you want to be at the top of the league you need consistency in each match. You can’t let in two or three matches when your playing level decreases,” said Smalling.

The former Fulham defender also gave a message to fans to continue to support Man United. Whether it’s in hard times (losing) or success in achieving victory .

“I think my message is to continue to support us. It’s never been missed. When we win or lose, when we warm up or even when I walk on the streets, there are United fans talking to me. I think that’s something we all love , “added Smalling.

“You can fully rely on the fact that we will put everything in the preseason and make sure, next season will be a season that is remembered for all the right reasons,” he concluded.
