Controling the Match, Spain Is Just Content to Share Points with Sweden
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Spain started their journey at Euro 2020 with less than optimal results. Meeting Sweden at the Sevilla Olympic Stadium, Luis Enrique’s team was unable to get the ball into the goal, as did Emil Forsberg cs. Both teams had to settle for sharing one point in the second match of Group E Euro 2020.
Neither Spain nor Sweden have both gone without a complete squad, with Sergio Busquets and Digel Llorente for La Furia Roja, while Janne Andersson’s side have had to sideline Dejan Kulusevski and Mattias Svanberg.
Although Alvaro Morata cs was able to control the match from the early minutes and made 17 shots, only 5 shots were aimed at the goal.
In the 15th minute La Furia Roja almost opened the scoring if Daniel Olmo’s header into the right corner of the goal which received a pass from Koke could not be ignored by goalkeeper Robin Olsen.
Morata had a golden opportunity in front of the Swedish goal in the 38th minute after Marcus Danielson made a mistake in the penalty box, but unfortunately, his shot went wide.
The preoccupation of attacking, the Spanish defense weakened and was able to be used by Sweden to make a quick counter-attack.
The result, Alexander Isak almost broke the deadlock with his shot from inside the penalty box in four minutes before the end of the first half. But Marcos Llorente swiftly blocked it, and luckily the ball from Llorente’s block that hit the bar was able to be saved by Unai Simon well.
In the second half was not much different from the first half, where Spain was able to control the game.
But La Furia Roja almost missed it. In the 61st minute, Isak penetrated the penalty area and outwit three Spaniards, before sending a bait to Marcus Berg, but he failed to take advantage of the opportunity in front of his eyes, sending Forsberg and Isak to the ground.
There were still no goals scored five minutes from the end, and Spain still kept Sweden under control, but Victor Lindelof managed to command his team’s defense to play disciplined and not take risks.
Sweden’s defense was able to frustrate the Spanish strikers until the referee blew the whistle to mark the end of the match. The inaugural match of the two teams at Euro 2020 ended with the score of glasses.
