COVID-19 Pandemic Stops Liverpool’s Step Winning Premier League Champion Title

“I feel sorry for Liverpool, because no matter what the outcome is, they deserve to win the league title. They deserve a trophy,” he said.

“No matter what the outcome is, even if we play all the league matches, it still feels like a year ravaged by a pandemic. It will be a year where Liverpool win the league not as the best team. 30 years they have never won a league title again,” Deeney explained.

“So, I really feel sorry for Liverpool and the players, also for [Jordan] Henderson. But in terms of integrity, it is impossible for you to say that this is a worthy competition [in the midst of a pandemic],” he said.

Premiere League clubs have resumed training in small groups. Deeney did not want to attend because she was worried about her five-month-old child, who was having difficulty breathing.

Deeney admitted he received criticism on social media for his decision, but several other players also shared his thoughts. Players like Danny Rose, N’Golo Kante and Sergio Aguero are also worried that the Premiere League will resume.

“Personally, I just think, this all shows me that the players have so much power if they really want to unite,” Deeney continued.
