DBasia.news – The 32-year-old center-back Cristian Zapata will end his journey with AC Milan. Zapata will leave the Rossoneri and join Genoa.
Ivan Cordoba, the agent of Zapata, previously confirmed that his client was interested in joining Genoa because of the project they had. Following Cordoba, Zapata also confirmed it via a video message.
“I am very happy to be able to get a very famous jersey like Genoa. I send a warm hug to all my fans. Vamos Genoa!” Zapata said, quoted by Football-Italy.
Zapata’s departure will not provide additional funds for Milan, because the former Udinese and Villarreal defender left on a free transfer after his contract was not renewed. Zapata will meet former Genoa teammate Gianluca Lapadula.
Zapata’s status is no longer Milan’s regular defender in the last few seasons. Moreover, the club currently has Alessio Romagnoli, Mateo Musacchio, and Mattia Caldara.
