Despite Dortmund’s Failure, Alcacer Scored the Record
By news-admin
Paco Alcacer
DBasia.news – Borussia Dortmund indeed got defeated 1-2 when they play in the home of Fortuna Dusseldorf. However, Paco Alcacer could score one goal.
Despite strengthening his position as the top scorer with 12 goals, the additional one goal from that match delivers Alcacer to create the record. That’s the 10th goal of the Spanish striker as the substitute player, the highest throughout the season.
Previously, the goalscoring record was for two players, Ioan Viorel Ganea and Nills Petersen. Both scored 9 goals in a season as the substitute players. Ganea did that in 2002-2003 with VfB Stuttgart and Petersen with SC Freiburg in 2016-2017.
Considering that there’s still a half season remains, Alcacer who signed from Barcelona might add his record. There are still 18 upcoming matches this season. The chance is wide open considering the coach Lucien Favre believes he is the secret weapon of the squad.
In fact, within 12 performances in Dortmund squad in Bundesliga 1, Alcacer only played as the starter 4 times. In 7 matches, he was the substitute player and once didn’t play.
