DBasia.news –  AS Roma closed their last pre-season trial against Arezzo, the Serie C club, with a 3-1 win. Roma wing striker Diego Perotti is pleased with the team’s pre-season performance.

Paulo Fonseca’s men won nine of their 10 matches during preseason preparations (five of which were training matches held at Trigoria), with Perotti, Edin Dzeko, and Justin Kluivert scoring goals when completing the final test at the Stadio Citta in Arezzo.

Now the first Serie A match of the season against Genoa at home, with only eight days left, Perotti feels the team is ready.

“Arezzo played well tonight, they made it difficult for us, this is a good test,” Perotti told Roma TV.

“At first we could not repeat what we did against Real Madrid, but slowly we followed our rhythm and we deserved to win.”

Ten friendly matches, nine wins, certainly don’t mean anything. However, a series of positive results during trials will help the team start the season.

“Yes, this is important, we have played against several strong teams and we have won almost every game. We are satisfied. Obviously, we are still not 100 percent physically ready, but we are at a good moment to start the season against the Genoa team who played some good days ago. It won’t be easy.”

One of the changes made by Fonseca is to make the winger’s position more central, you seem familiar with it …

“It’s a way of playing that gets you closer to the striker and the goal, so that means you have a better chance of scoring goals. I think we have done a good job as the coach wants, although it was never easy when a new coach came in. I think we can start the season well.”

In one week, three players signed a new contract: Zaniolo, Cengiz and Dzeko. What does this moment mean for the player dressing room?

“That means a lot, they are three key players – two young people and another, a player with a lot of experience who will never be easily replaced. The club works well.

“We have a lot to do well, the transfer market is still open but so far we are happy with what the team has done.”
