Edin Dzeko signs a new contract with AS Roma

DBasia.news –  As if ending speculation of his transfer to Inter Milan, Edin Dzeko extended his contract with AS Roma.

Edin Dzeko is a striker dreamed by Antonio Conte to strengthen Inter Milan. For Conte, Dzeko is very appropriate to occupy one of the spearhead positions.

However, Inter Milan negotiations with AS Roma took place tough. Il Giallorossi set a price of 20 million euros and was reluctant to give discounts. 

The Nerazzurri rate, that number is too high. Because Edin Dzeko’s contract in Roma leaves only one more season.

Now, Inter Milan get a bitter pill. Because Roma managed to convince Edin Dzeko to extend the contract. 

“AS Roma is pleased to announce Edin Dzeko has renewed his contract with us until 30 June 2022,” AS Roma said in an official statement.

Previously, there was also an exchange of discourse between Dzeko and Mauro Icardi. However, the plan was canceled because Icardi was reluctant to move to Roma.

“Before the last season ended, we already had a decision. Dzeko is one of the pillars for our team,” said Roma CEO Guido Fienga.

“In the past few months, we have never changed our minds. We are glad Dzeko agreed to stay in Rome.”

After signing the new contract, Dzeko revealed his heart. He believes he can win the title with AS Roma.

“Over the last few weeks, I felt how much the entire club wanted me to survive. They made me more aware and understand that for four years AS Roma was home,” explained Dzeko.

“We have everything to win the trophy. I am happy to stay here longer,” said the attacker.

Inter Milan are reportedly not surprised by the decision taken by Edin Dzeko. La Beneamata has monitored several Dzeko’s replacement candidates such as Alexis Sanchez and Fernando Llorente.
