Everton Are Inferior over Liverpool Ahead of the Merseyside Derby

DBasia.news – Everton will host city rivals Liverpool in the 29th week of the Premier League on Sunday (3/3) at 23.15 Western Indonesian Time at Goodison Park. Ahead of the match, Everton did not have a good record against Liverpool.
At the 200th derby meeting in the Premier League, Everton have never won the last 18 derbies in all competitions and 16 of them have taken place in the Premier League – Everton’s worst long record.
Finally, Everton’s David Moyes beat Liverpool at Goodison Park in October 2010 with a score of 2-0. Since then, Everton have played 33 other teams in the Premier League and defeated 32 of them.
Not sure Everton was curious enough to defeat the city rivals. No matter though Everton spent big money to buy Gylfi Sigurdsson, Jordan Pickford, Theo Walcott, and other players, they remained inferior to Liverpool.
Marco Silva, Everton manager, hopes the minor record will end this weekend. Because this new Everton won the score 3-0 over Cardiff City and ended a bad record three consecutive defeats.
“We are very clinical and that is what we need. It is important if we have the opportunity and can use it. Self-confidence is something that is missing from us and we need it more consistently as a team and not fluctuate every time,” Silva said to Mirror.
“We achieved it in one part of the season, from the beginning to December. I hope the results from Cardiff can give us the needed boost and we all want to achieve good results again on Sunday (against Liverpool),” he said.
In addition to relying on momentum and the confidence of players who are on the rise, Silva is expected to also be able to fix the sharpness of his team on the front lines. Because Everton did not have a good record scoring many goals in the Merseyside Derby.
The Toffees have only scored two goals in the last six meetings against Liverpool in the Premier League. It won’t be easy for Everton to go through the sturdy wall of Liverpool’s defense which has conceded just 16 goals in the Premier League – the best in the league.
Considering the consistency of Liverpool, which has only lost one season this season in the Premier League, the task is certainly for Everton to beat or at least hold the city rivals in a draw.
