DBasia.news – The injury crisis happened to Liverpool center-back could be compensated by Fabinho’s great performance. His presence could keep Liverpool’s hope to achieve the Premier League title against Manchester City.
Liverpool signed Fabinho from AS Monaco in 2018 summer transfer market. The bald player made The Reds spent £45M and he signed the contract until June 2023.
Just like the other new players, Fabinho needs the time to adapt. Moreover, the Brasilian player just played on the 9th-week of Premier League. At that time, Klopp said Fabinho needs to enhance his performance to qualify for the man squad.
Now, the situation is the contrary. Fabinho gets enough time in Liverpool. Moreover, the 25-year-old player could be the solution for The Reds defensive line whose players got injured.
When Joe Gomez and Joel Matip injured in a week in December, Jurgen Klopp prepared the strategy to place Fabinho as the center-back, different from his current position as the midfielder.
Fabinho collaborated with Dejan Lovren as the defensive line of Liverpool in the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup. Next, Fabinho played as the defender with Virgil van Dijk against Brighton last weekend.

“Some weeks ago, I knew this could be an option because we had some players out injured and we only had two center-backs available. When Dejan got injured, I knew it would be logical that I’d play in that position,” Fabinho told Liverpoolfc.com.
“I had some training sessions playing in that position, which helped me adapt better and pick up certain aspects, like positioning and movements you need to be natural to play in this position.”
Fabinho’s performance as the center-back is pretty good. He was the player with the most clearances against Brighton around 85,7 percent.
“I’d already played the previous game as a centre-back against Wolves. I think it went well, I had a good understanding with Ki-Jana Hoever, the communication was good. Regarding positioning, I improved throughout the game in this aspect. I did well.”
“And in the last game against Brighton, I think I played well. Playing alongside Van Dijk helped, he’s really vocal, he guided us. He helped me a lot. I had good communication with Trent and also with Hendo; they were the players closest to me on the pitch,” Fabinho revealed.
However, he won’t brag about that. He thinks there are still some rooms for improvements.
“In this position, which I haven’t played in a lot, I think I adapted well. There are some aspects, such as positioning, that I need to improve on. If I were to play in this position more, I’d improve on these things, but that’s natural,” Fabinho said.
It’s clear that Fabinho is the substitute in Liverpool. He could be the alternative when The Reds squad got injured.
