Fabio Quagliarella is Ready to Cut his Salary to help Sampdoria’s finances

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Sampdoria striker, Fabio Quagliarella is ready to accept a pay cut in order to help the club’s finances. The 37-year-old striker will comply with the new policies implemented by Il Samp regarding player salary restrictions.

With this new policy, Sampdoria limits player salaries to a maximum of 1 million euros per year. This policy is the latest step taken by Sampdoria’s management in order to reduce pressure on club finances, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Quagliarella has decided to follow the club’s policy and is willing to accept a salary cut,” wrote Tuttosports as reported by Football Italia, Tuesday (1/9).

Actually, Sampdoria hopes, Gaston Ramirez can follow in Quagliarella’s steps. However, the Uruguay striker prefers to take a different step and is willing to leave Il Samp in the transfer market this summer.

Quagliarella was recruited from Torino in 2016. Since then, the former Juventus striker has been a mainstay on the front lines of Il Samp. Even though he is 37 years old, the Sampdoria captain has proven to still be able to maintain sharpness on the front lines. Last season, Quagliarella scored 12 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions.

Overall, the Serie A top scorer for the 2018-2019 season appeared in 158 matches and tore the opponent’s goal 72 times during the five seasons in strengthening the team from Genoa. Not only that, Quagliarella is also proven capable of performing nicely with the Italian national team.

In March, Quaglirella was recorded as the oldest player to score a goal for Gli Azzurri in international competition, precisely when Italy defeated Liechtenstein, 6-0, in the qualifying round for Euro 2020. At that time, Quagliarella, who had turned 36 years and 54 days old, contributed one goal through the execution of a penalty kick.
