Guardiola’ Reason for Putting Leroy Sane on the Bench

DBasia.news – Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has the reason why Leroy Sane hasn’t become the starting lineup due to the scheme. Guardiola refused the opinion that Sane isn’t in his best physical condition.

Leroy Sane just sat on the bench during the two initial matches of Man City in the Premier League. So far, the 17-year-old player just played for 22 minutes.

This condition is in contrary with Sane last season. No wonder, many people assumed Sane and Guardiola’s relationship is bad.

“In the past two weeks in training, I’ve seen the Leroy that I know and we know. I am delighted about that. You know about his performances in pre-season, he arrived late and now he is getting back to being like Leroy is,” Guardiola said reported by Soccerway.

“We have six excellent strikers and not all of them can play. He is not being left out because we are unhappy with his performance. We have to choose now Mendy is playing wider. That is the reason why.”

“He is ready with his physical condition. He doesn’t need much time to get in better condition, it is not about that,” he continued.

Before the 2018-2019 season, Leroy Sane had a complicated problem after not included to the Germany national team in the 2018 World Cup. Moreover, Sane performed excellently in The Citizens during 2017-2018.

“He took a little bit more time to settle and now he is ready. I understand the disappointment of missing the World Cup – for young players it is an important issue,” he said.

Leroy Sane would sit on the bench during the match of Manchester City to Wolverhampton Wanderer’s home at Molineux Stadium, Saturday (25/8).

“It is not the case that when someone in this team is not playing that I’m not happy with them or they don’t deserve it.”
