Having Two Straight Defeats, Arsenal Are Starting to Worry
DBasia.news – Just a few weeks Arsenal have the upper hand in the hunt for a Champions League zone in the top four of the Premier League, the Gunners are now in a worrying position following two consecutive defeats.
After losing 1-3 in the London Derby against Crystal Palace, Arsenal lost in Week 32 of the Premier League against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium, Saturday (09/04) night WIB, with a score of 1-2.
Playing as the host seemed to have no effect for Brighton who had a 2-0 lead from goals from Leandro Trossard (28′) and Enock Mwepu (66′), before being reduced by Martin Odegaard’s goal in the 89th minute.
Arsenal failed to capitalize on 65 percent possession and 20 shots (four on target) for another goal. The top four are still within Arsenal’s reach, but they failed to secure a place in the top four.
Arsenal is in fifth place with 54 points from 30 matches, three points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur in fourth with 31 points.
“What happened was, a lot of self-criticism, getting slapped again, because we were so bad in the first half, and lifting ourselves up because we know that this route is getting us nowhere, especially where we want to be, we have everything to go for. played,” said Mikel Arteta after the game ended.
“In the last eight games we have to have with that level of energy and visualize the challenge, the beautiful challenge we have ahead, and don’t sit back and see what happens.”
Graham Potter Specter for Arsenal
The 46-year-old British coach, Graham Potter, deserves to be called kryptonite for Arsenal. How not, according to William Hill, Potter has now won more games against Arsenal (four times) than any other club in his career.
Three of them even happened at the Emirates Stadium. This season only four teams have beaten Arsenal, apart from Liverpool (twice), Chelsea and Manchester City, Brighton being the fourth team to do so.
The next three games will not be easy for Arsenal. They will visit Southampton headquarters (16/04), play away against Chelsea (21/04), and host Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium (23/04).
