Inefficient Against Galatasaray, Real Madrid Achieved First Victory
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Los Blancos won with a thin score of 1-0. Wednesday (10/23) early morning Western Indonesian Time, Real Madrid finally won the inaugural victory in the Champions League group A match at Turk Telecom Arena, Galatasaray Headquarters.
The only goal of the match was scored by Toni Kroos in the 18th minute when the ball was deflected by the opponent. Speaking of goals, the victory did provide three points for Madrid who keep their hopes of qualifying for the 16th major, but, Madrid still gets high attention.
Because, Zinedine Zidane’s Madrid released 27 attempted kicks and 12 of them were on target – despite losing control of the ball 44 compared to Galatasaray, 56 percent. Madrid’s failure to score was due to a poor finish.
In addition to a poor finish, Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera also performed well to deny Madrid several opportunities. One of the most highlighted moments occurred when Eden Hazard’s strike struck the crossbar. In fact, Hazard had gone through Muslera.
This is not the first time Real Madrid have played inefficiently. In total, Madrid has released 212 attempted kicks from 12 matches this season, 76 of them on target, but only 19 goals were created. No doubt Zidane has homework to fix the completion of his team.
It is ironic to see a team of caliber Real Madrid blunt to score goals. When against Galatasaray, Zidane played Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema, Rodrygo Goes, James Rodriguez, Luka Jovic, and Vinicius Junior, but the only goal was created from a central midfielder.
“We have a lot of chances to score goals with a very good game. I want to score more goals because with the second goal the pressure of rivals decreases,” said Zidane, as reported by Marca.
“In the end, when you don’t score the second goal you suffer until the end, but I am happy with the players because they have worked hard,” he continued.
Real Madrid now ranks second in the Champions League group A with four points, five points adrift of PSG at the top of the standings, followed by Club Brugge (two points) and Galatasaray (one point).
