Liverpool vs Norwich City

DBasia.news –  Liverpool showed a strong desire to win the Premier League this season. Starting the 2019-20 season at Anfield against Norwich City, Saturday (10/8) early morning Western Indonesian Time, the Reds won with a landslide score of 4-1.

Liverpool has mastered the game since the first whistle sounded. Jurgen Klopp’s squad recorded possession of the ball up to 58 percent. Meanwhile, 15 opportunities were created through the actions of the Reds’ players.

Not surprisingly, Liverpool closed the first half with a 4-0 advantage. The goals were created by Grant Hanley (7 ‘OG), Mohamed Salah (19’), Virgil van Dijk (28 ‘), and Divock Origi (42’). Teemu Pukki’s goal in the 64th minute was not enough for Norwich to pursue victory.

The opening duel of the Premier League 2019-2020 also presents several interesting facts.

1. For the second time in the history of the Premier League, the first goal came through an own goal. Previously, a similar incident occurred at the opening of the 2015-2016 season between the Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United matchup (Kyle Walker).

2. Mohamed Salah has scored against 21 of 23 different teams in the Premier League with Liverpool. He only failed to score when met Manchester United (4 matches) and Swansea City (2 matches).

3. Liverpool have scored three goals in the first 30 minutes of a Premier League match since February 2014. At that time, the Reds were 4-0 up in 20 minutes against Arsenal.

4. Liverpool are the first team to score four or more goals in the first round in the Premier League since August 2006. The last team able to do so was Manchester United when facing Fulham.

5. Trent Alexander-Arnold was the first player to score assists in five consecutive Premier League appearances since Mesut Ozil did so in 2015.

6. Teemu Pukki has scored with the first shots on target in each of the last eight league seasons (Schalke 04, Celtic, Brøndby IF & Norwich City).

7. Onel Hernandez from Norwich City was the first Cuban player to appear in the Premier League.

8. Liverpool have won the last 12 Premier League matches against promoted clubs. In that period, the Reds scored 35 goals and conceded only four goals.

9. The Reds recorded their 10th consecutive victory in the Premier League.
