Javier Tebas Slams Manchester City and PSG

DBasia.news –  Manchester City and PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) were criticized by Javier Tebas, President of LaLiga, as they were considered to have damaged the player’s price balance in the summer transfer market.

Tebas is not just talking. The public still remembers exactly how Neymar’s transfer was realized from Barcelona to PSG in 2017 amounting to 222 million euros – until now he is still the world’s most expensive transfer.

The fact that the FFP (Financial Fair Play) regulations applied by UEFA did not stop the two clubs from investing in larger amounts. As a result, a domino effect appeared in the transfer market.

Player prices experienced an inflation and its impact, small clubs and small companies have difficulty recruiting desired players because of high prices. They are required to sell players before recruiting new players.

That condition convinced Tebas to accuse Man City and PSG of being the teams that damaged the stability of European football. Their financial strength makes a huge distance with other clubs.

“The problem with PSG and City is that they are clubs that are run by the state: one from petrol money and one from gas,” Tebas told the Financial Times.

“The damage in European football is great because they continue to increase transfer prices, so clubs have to pay an unreasonable amount to defend their players.”

“There are clubs that don’t really care what their main income is when they recruit players because they receive income from a country,” said Tebas.

Tebas even said the dominance shown by PSG and Man City damaged the entire football system in Europe.

“It forces clubs in an economic situation that is truly at the end of the horn. It destroys the overall balance of the structure of European football. This is no longer a sport and no longer an industry. It’s like being a toy, a toy country,” added Tebas.

“And when they are playing, children start playing with other children. You ultimately damage the whole system,” he concluded.
