DBasia.news –  Real Madrid failed to advance to the last eight of the Champions League. El Real was eliminated by Ajax Amsterdam with a total aggregate 5-3 goals after winning a 4-1 victory in the second leg of the last 16 which took place at Santiago Bernabeu, Wednesday (6/3) WIB. Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu watched the match.

Ajax ended Madrid’s dominance who have won the Champions League title three times in a row and added their collection to 13 trophies. When interviewed by Radio Cadena Ser, Bartomeu was tempted by the host, Cuni, by saying “I see satisfaction on your face,”

Bartomeu answered briefly. “I watched the match (Madrid against Ajax), and try to listen, one strong rival have been diminished in the Champions League, that’s good,” Bartomeu said, as quoted from Sport-English.

“The world of sports is very challenging. We should give a good assessment to the Barca Era since 2004. I will not talk about the disappointment of the other teams,” he continued.

Bartomeu continued to avoid when asked to respond to Madrid’s performance, as well as comments from Dani Carvajal, Madrid’s right-back, who considered this to be Madrid’s worst season.

“Everyone says what they believe about they’re team. I don’t want to talk about Madrid, I want to talk about Barca,” Bartomeu said.

However, when asked about the performance of new Barca players in the coming season, Frenkie de Jong, with Ajax, Bartomeu answered openly.

“As a Barca fan, I want Frenkie to win it. Defeating Real Madrid is indeed the goal,” added Bartomeu.

Barcelona are still struggling in the Champions League. They will host Olympique Lyonnais in the second leg of the last 16 of the Champions League on Thursday (3/14) 3:00 a.m. WIB, in aggregate goals as strong without goals.
