KL send NS to Premier League
By news-admin
DBasia.news – NEGERI Sembilan (NS) legitimately bid farewell to the Super League rivals as well as ‘downgraded’ in the Premier League next season.
It was followed by a 2-1 win by Kuala Lumpur (KL) over the team in the Super League action which took place at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras today.
While KL needed only a draw to stay in the Super League, the victory allowed Fabio Maciel’s squad to score 24 points.
It showed KL being comfortable with a nine-point advantage over the NS who had 15 points when rivals were still one game away.
Negeri Sembilan also missed six points behind the 10th, Selangor and the victory over Melaka United in the final action did not give any meaning to the team.
A relatively balanced action was shown by both teams, but some of the movements failed to produce a dangerous attempt to their respective opponents within the first 10 minutes.
The NS were first shocked by Guilherme de Paula’s header from Syazwan Andik’s cross in the 11th minute, but they were relieved when the network was canceled after the Brazilian striker was already off the beaten track.
Visitors also had the best chance of opening the network through a quick counter-attack but Fakrul Aiman Sidid’s attempt after successfully deflecting KL’s defensive stride slightly to the left side of the home goal three minutes later.
The opening goal ended up being owned by KL after Paulo Josue’s corner was completed by Bobirjon Akbarov who fired his third personal goal with the team in the first half remaining four minutes.
However, the excitement of KL only lasted two minutes when Alex Moraes managed to score in the equalizer in the 43rd minute allowing the two teams to be 1-1 at the end of the first half.
The second half continued, NS had dominated the game and launched several attacks but the defense KL had closed any possible strikes to make sure they were not deflected once again.
Veteran striker Indra Putra Mahayuddin eventually ‘kills’ the visitors’ spirits when he scored the winning goal in the 86th minute sending NS ‘home’ back to the Premiership only after a season’s rivalry this season.
