DBasia.news – PSG’s Director of Sports, Leonardo, has given a detailed explanation of the speculation on the transfer of Neymar, which will be the transfer saga this summer.
Neymar is being hunted by two Spanish giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona. Lately, the relationship has gotten worse with PSG. Not only did he miss the preseason training session, Neymar also upset fans with his words.
The Santos academy product says Barcelona’s brilliant comeback over PSG in the Champions League is the best moment of his career. Obviously PSG fans were outraged to hear it, especially since Neymar is currently a club player.
No doubt fans are annoyed with him and hope the player leaves. From that side, Leonardo saw that Neymar had made a mistake.
“He (Neymar) made a mistake. I did not know him before. Over time, I began to know him. Honestly, I thought he was a good man. Then, he was a very great player when competing,” explained Leonardo to RMC Sport.
PSG was originally not going to hold Neymar away as long as there is a club that can meet the club’s request. Neymar is sold for at least 222 million euros, a world transfer record when PSG purchased him from Barcelona in 2017.
But until now, no club has agreed to this despite having held discussions with PSG. “There have been negotiations (about Neymar), discussions with several clubs in the last few hours. But, there is no (conversation) advanced stage,” said Leonardo.
Two other topics discussed by Leonardo, former AC Milan Technical Director, were the issue of Neymar’s injury and the news that the player was frozen from Thomas Tuchel’s main squad.
“This (injury) is very simple. He was checked out by the best doctors and surgeons in the world at the start of the season, and his injury has been completely resolved,” added Leonardo.
“This is very false, he was not frozen from the group. He simply was just following a personal rehabilitation program. He is a PSG player, he still has a three-year contract, we must not forget him. We have to analyze and fix everything before he can play again.” he concluded.
