Lionel Messi Sets a New Record after Donating One Goal in a Game against Mallorca

By db-admin – Lionel Messi contributed one goal for Barcelona in their inaugural match after the Spanish League returned amid the corona virus pandemic.

Barcelona appeared dominant against Real Mallorca. The Blaugrana only took two minutes to open the scoring. Arturo Vidal’s header was lodged in the host’s goal post.

Barcelona doubled the lead to 2-0 in the 37th minute. Lionel Messi’s pass was completed by Martin Braithwaite with a hard shot.

Lionel Messi continued to play the role of bait in Barcelona’s third goal scored by Jordi Alba in the 79th minute. Alba dribbled quickly before aiming it at the bottom side of the goal.

Lionel Messi completed his performance that night by scoring towards the end of the match. The Argentine national team captain fired a hard kick in the penalty box after receiving a bait from Luis Suarez.

The goal has also made Lionel Messi set a new record. Lionel Messi became the first player to pack at least 20 goals in 12 consecutive LaLiga seasons.

In addition, Lionel Messi also matched Ciro Immobile’s incision in goal involvement. Messi and Immobile are both involved in 34 league goals. The difference, Messi incised 20 goals plus 14 assists, while Immobile scored 27 goals and seven assists.

The 4-0 victory also felt important as Barcelona was away from the pursuit of Real Madrid, who finished second in the standings. At present, the two teams are five points away.
