DBasia.news – Premier League defending champion Manchester City are one of the clubs active in the winter transfer market on January 2019.
No wonder, Pep Guardiola squad is eyeing a new player as the goalkeeper, the 23-year-old Zack Steffen. Mirror reported Steffen would join The Citizens on January 2019 worth £6M from Major League Soccer club, Columbus Crew.
The decision to sign a new goalkeeper is related to the lack of goalkeeper in Manchester City so far. Currently, The Citizens only have Ederson Moraes after the option Claudio Bravo injured.
His name might not familiar with football lovers, but the 23-year-old goalkeeper is the popular figure in the US. The West Chester United academy alumni moved to Columbus Crew on November 2016 from Pittsburgh.
With Columbus, he is the main goalkeeper and performed in 71 caps. His impressive performance at MAPFRE Stadium made him called-up to the US national team and had his debut on January 2018. So far, he played six times for his country.
It’s unclear how long Steffen would stay if coming to Etihad Stadium. But, the same source said the transfer fee might worth £10M with the bonus clause in the contract.
