DBasia.news – The report about Manchester City’s transfer manipulations scandal a few years ago raised a serious attention from UEFA.
UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin is ready to investigate this case. If they must be absent from the Champions League, it’s a big loss for Sheikh Mansour club. The sponsorship budget might be stuck either.
Based on the initial revelation by Football Leaks, it’s a concrete threat. Possibly, The Citizens might be absent from the Champions League next season.
Recently, UEFA conducted a conference in Dublin, Ireland. Ceferin said the report was found from the illegal email hack could be a serious finding.
“We are assessing the situation. We have an independent body working on it. Very soon you will have the answers on what will happen in this concrete case,” Ceferin said.
Previously, UEFA declared the closed case might be reopened if there’s a new finding. Including the case of Manchester City that was closed a few seasons ago.
The newest document said there was £59,5M budget transferred to the club account by Abu Dhabi United Group. It’s claimed that the budget is a part of a sponsorship partnership between the two parties.
It’s revealed that the money was used to complete Riyad Mahrez transfer from Leicester City. The Algerian player was signed by Manchester City from The Foxes worth £60M, breaking the club record.
