Manchester City Won’t Purchase Ruben Neves £100M

DBasia.news – Manchester City’s current priority is looking for the option for Fernandinho. In his 34, Fernandinho couldn’t always play in every match.
Some names are associated with Man City, like Tanguy Ndombele (Olympique Lyonnais), Ruben Neves (Wolverhampton Wanderers), and Frenkie de Jong (Ajax Amsterdam). The Citizens would sign the new midfielder this January.
It’s rumored that Manchester City would spend £100M (Rp1,6 trillion) transfer fee to sign Neves. The Portuguese 21-year-old midfielder has played 25 times with Wolves this season of all competitions.
Neves is the ideal option for Fernandinho considering his young age and bright future. However, Man City manager Pep Guardiola denied that the team would spend that big just for one holding midfielder.
“He’s an excellent player but there are many clubs in the world, many holding midfielders in the world, and most of them can play here. That’s not the point,” Guardiola said cited by Guardian.
“Most of them are under contracts. A month ago, I started reading – ‘Rúben Neves, £100m’. That is not going to happen, we are not going to pay £100m for a holding midfielder,” he continued.
Guardiola also explained that Man City couldn’t always spend big in each season. There’s a limit in signing the player according to the needs.
“Our wage bill for the players is eighth or ninth or 10th in Europe, so there are eight or nine clubs where the wages are higher than Manchester City pay,” Guardiola added.
“We try to be stable in everything. When we spent a lot (two summers ago) – it was because the team was old – it was an average 30-31 years old and that’s why we did it. But we cannot do it every season. We have a limit,” he concluded.
