Manchester United vs Wolves

DBasia.news –  Matchday two Premier League between Wolverhampton Wanderers counter Manchester United at Molineux Stadium on Tuesday (8/20) early morning Western Indonesian Time, ended in a 1-1 draw.

The result means the Red Devils failed to defeat Molineux in three consecutive matches in all competitions – two last season. The match was also marred by Paul Pogba’s failure to score a penalty.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United’s manager, made only one change from the team that won 4-0 against Chelsea at Old Trafford. Daniel James becomes the starter replacing Andreas Pereira.

The game has been going one direction since the beginning of the fight. Wolves immediately piled players in the defensive zone and seemed to let United’s players dominate possession. Typical Wolves, they rely on counterattacks.

Man United still plays well in dominating possession and trying to dismantle the host defense from the wing and center. At the same time be aware of Wolves counterattack that relies on the speed of Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota on the front lines.

Man United’s patience paid off in the 27th minute. Anthony Martial opened the scoring when he received an assist from Marcus Rashford. Hard kick in the penalty box can not be ignored by Rui Patricio. 1-0.

No more goals were scored in the first half plus two minutes of added time. Man United took a 1-0 lead over hosts Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In the second half, Wolves increased the intensity of their game to pursue equalizing goals. The entry of Adama Traore replaces Doherty to turn their attack on the front lines.

Hard work paid off. Wolves scored a beautiful goal from hard kick Ruben Neves from outside the penalty box that can not be ignored David De Gea. The position changed to 1-1.

The goal was briefly reviewed by VAR (Video Assistant Referee) because there was an indication of Joao Moutinho, the provider of the offside assist, however, there were no changes and the goal was still considered valid.

Drama ensued on 68 minutes. Man United had a chance to get back ahead when given a penalty by the referee when Coady dropped Paul Pogba. But, Pogba who was appointed as the executor failed to carry out his duty properly.

Pogba’s penalty kick was read well and pushed over by the Portugal national team goalkeeper, Rui Patricio. Man United failed to score their second goal.

Entering the last 10 minutes, Solskjaer has played Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata, and Mason Greenwood. While Nuno Espirito Santo included Pedro Neto and Patrick Cutrone.

However, the scoreboard did not change until the game broke up. A 1-1 score gives one point each for Wolves and Manchester United.
