Marseille Threatened to Fail to Europe

Marseille

DBasia.news –  Marseille’s chances of finishing in the European zone were threatened after being held to a 1-1 draw at Strasbourg in Week 35 of Ligue 1 at the Stadion de la Meinau, Strasbourg.

Marseille’s advantage gained through Valere Germain’s goal was eliminated by Kenny Lala.

The results did lift Marseille’s position to fifth in the table with a collection of 55 points, but their position threatened to go down to sixth place if Montpellier (54) won three points in their Week 35 match.

After the first half ended in a draw, Marseille took the lead through a quick goal early in the second half through Germain’s shot finishing Hiroki Sakai’s pass.

In the 64th minute, Strasbourg won a penalty after Ludovic Ajorque was violently dropped by Adil Rami.

Jonas Martin’s penalty execution was brushed aside by goalkeeper Steven Mandanda and his gagging ball was again thwarted, but the chance for a third aftershock was successfully buried by Lalal into the Marseille goal to turn the score 1-1.
