DBasia.news –  Chelsea continued to secure the service of their talented young players. After extending the contract Ruben Loftus-Cheek, the Blues managed to convince Mason Mount to sign a new contract.

The Chelsea academy product has been at the club since 2005 (from the academy). Until now, Mount has been loaned twice by Chelsea at Vitesse Arnhem (2017/18) and Derby County (2018/19). At Derby, Mount is coached by Frank Lampard, the current Chelsea manager.

The 20-year-old midfielder is thrilled to be signing a new contract with Chelsea for the next five years (2024). Mount hopes to compete for Chelsea’s main team entry.

“This (signing a new contract) is the proudest moment for myself and my family. I joined the club at the age of six and it has always been my goal, playing for the main team,” said Mount on the official Chelsea website.

“I am really looking forward to the new season now and working hard to make an impact on playing for Chelsea. I have been at the club for a while and hopefully I will last for long time.”

Marina Granovskaia, Director of Chelsea, continued that Chelsea were happy to be able to defend the England U-21 national midfielder. Granovskaia believes Mount is ready to compete in the Chelsea first team.

“Mason came with the right path from the Chelsea academy and always stands tall as a fantastic talent and dedicated individual,” Granovskaia added.

“We have monitored his progress very closely while he was on loan and believe he is now ready to be part of our squad, competing at the top of the Premier League.”

“Like other academy products, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, we are pleased that Mason is committed to the club this summer and can’t wait for a bright future,” added Granovskaia.
