Aurelio De Laurentiis, President of Napoli, spoke of rumors regarding the player barter between Lorenzo Insigne and Inter Milan striker, Mauro Icardi. According to De Laurentiis, Napoli already has many offensive players.
Napoli emerged as one of the teams willing to accommodate Mauro Icardi. Il Partenopei is reportedly willing to fulfill Icardi’s salary request which reached 9 million euros per season. In addition, Napoli are also ready to give 60 million euros for Inter Milan.
The Nerazzurri are reportedly asking Napoli to put Lorenzo Insigne in Mauro Icardi’s agreement. The idea was outrightly rejected by Aurelio de Laurentiis.
“Carlo Ancelotti said he would not exchange Icardi with Insigne, it is true. Icardi might join Juventus, but I would prefer Insigne than Icardi as he is what we need. In addition, we also have Arkadiusz Milik and Dries Mertens. In the attack sector, “said Aurelio de Laurentiis as reported by Football Italia.
Inter Milan have not accepted Icardi in the team at Antonio Conte’s request. The former Juventus tactician considered, Icardi could damage the team with the controversy that occurred.
“Looked at from a distance, he gave the impression that he was not handled properly, was wasted, and did not understand the importance of the role he had. However, our admiration for him as a player does not need to be doubted,” Laurentiis added.
Besides Mauro Icardi, Napoli is also associated with James Rodriguez. Although he did not deny wanting to recruit Rodriguez, De Laurentiis insisted Napoli needed to sell players first.
“Our priority at the moment is to sell players. We have a lot of players in the squad and want to reduce it. However, we will also be active and attentive in the player transfer market,” explained the president.
