New Regulation: Team Manager Might Have Card in FA Cup and League Cup
By news-admin
DBasia.news – FA as the English Football Association is innovating to develop one of the world most popular sports. One way to do it is by releasing a new regulation. FA is doing it for the 2018/2019 season.
Released by EFL official site, the yellow and red card will also be available for the club manager during the FA Cup, League Cup, Football Cup, EFL Trophy, and National League. It doesn’t apply in the Premier League who still uses the first warning regulation when the club managers do something strange.
By this regulation, it’s expected to control the club managers to conduct the behavior and won’t be emotional. While the yellow and red card will be given to the main referee of the match, if there’s any manager who insults the referee (main, assistant, or linesman), kicks bottle, hand claps sarcastically to the referee, and the other unusual behaviors.
The cards aren’t only for the club manager, but also the coaching staff. EFL chief executive, Shaun Harvey, explains the detail of the new regulation.
“If the behavior continues in a manner that he doesn’t feel appropriate – effectively like a totting up of a number of fouls – then there’s the opportunity for a second yellow card to be issued at which stage the manager leaves the bench area,” Harvey said.
“If there’s a serious incident deemed by the match official, the manager will be shown a red card and go to the stands. It will hopefully improve behavior in the technical areas. This is not about creating a drama. It is about making sure behavior doesn’t decline further,” he emphasized.
If a manager gets four yellow cards, he will be banned from the next match. Eight yellow cards mean two matches and if he gets more cards, they will have a problem with the FA panel.
The regulation is a warning for emotional managers like Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, and Jurgen Klopp during the FA Cup and League Cup matches.
