Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Response from Louis van Gaal’s Criticism

DBasia.news –  Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, replies to Louis van Gaal’s comments on the current negative Man United game and is not much different from Jose Mourinho.

Van Gaal said Solskjaer applied the same style of play with Mourinho: laying down defenses, playing defensively, and tending to rely on counterattacks – in other words, bus parking tactics. The difference is that Solskjaer gave United a lot of wins.

Solskjaer, 46 years old, of course did not remain silent in response to the opinions expressed by the former United manager in mid-2014-2016. The Norwegian man believes that Van Gaal only watched United’s game against PSG in the Champions League. In that match Man United did survive and rely on counterattacks.

“Louis van Gaal has the right to argue, we have seen every match that has been played. In a number of matches, Manchester United have succeeded in pressing and dominating,” Solskjaer said, as quoted from the Manchester Evening News.

“Maybe Van Gaal saw the match against Paris Saint-Germain, the game did require us to defend very strongly and then launch a counterattack.”

Solskjaer claimed he had no problems if his team did have to survive and rely on counterattacks, as long as United’s mindset remained to attack and score when controlling the ball.

“It’s about the moment when you win the ball. You want to survive to win the ball and then attack. You have to win the ball to attack and for me there are two ways. Can you attack fast like we did today (against Watford), why not? your intention when you win the ball to attack, “Solskjaer added.

Finally, United’s legend in the mid-1996-2007 was also grateful to have a squad that had experienced different managers, ranging from Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Ryan Giggs, Van Gaal, to Mourinho.

“The foundation of any team is to play well without the ball. If you can do it then you have a big chance (to win). If there is high, low, or medium pressure, sometimes you have to combine it,” Solskjaer added.

“I am very happy and grateful to inherit a team that has went through a lot (being trained by different managers). The players here – most of them – are trained by (Jose) Mourinho, Van Gaal, (David) Moyes, and Fergie, so their education is great. They know both sides of the game,” he explained.
