Phil Foden doesn’t want to cross Liverpool out of the Premier League title competition

DBasia.news – Manchester City attacking midfielder, Phil Foden thinks Liverpool are still a dangerous threat in the Premier League, especially in the title race. Foden did not want to write off the Reds from the competition for the league title.
City will visit Liverpool headquarters in Week 23 of the Premier League, Sunday (07/02) at 23.30 WIB. The two teams are currently seven points adrift and Pep Guardiola’s City still have one match postponed.
In contrast to City who are consistent and found the momentum to play, Liverpool are inconsistent after losing two consecutive times at Anfield with a score of 0-1 against Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Comparing with City’s performance at the start of the season, Foden also sees the same thing for Liverpool and they also have the potential to rise up in the race for the league title.
“The reason why [our defensive record is so good] is because 67% of the time we have the ball,” Guardiola explained.
“This is the main reason. The main reason is we have the ball. If you have the ball as much as possible then the opponent doesn’t have the ball.
“In the beginning, we were not at the top and everyone crossed us, saying we had lost too many points, but we stayed together and now we are at the top, so that shows how that can change,” Foden told BBC Sport.
“We don’t want to rush too much, we have to think about the next game. It’s very easy to drop points, there really is no home advantage (this season) and it’s been a strange year.”
“They (Liverpool) are a great team and have great players. We know they can run on their own. It will be a good match,” he added.
“You see how strong Liverpool have been in recent years and I still see them as a threat, also (Manchester) United played well. But we just have to focus on ourselves,” explained Foden.
