Premier League Allowed Player Contracts to be Provisionally Extended

By db-admin

DBasia.news – The clubs can breathe a little in relief if the season continues after June. Because, the Premier League allows players whose contracts expire temporarily extended.

The Premier League has been suspended since March 12 because of the corona virus pandemic. During these two months, debate related to whether or not this season continues to roll.

Had appeared the season option was canceled at the beginning of club discussions, but eventually most of them wanted the 2019/2020 season to be completed. There are broadcast rights and sponsorships that are too big to pass up.

Well, the competition will reportedly be held again starting June 12 and will be completed in full time, addressing the presence of players whose contracts have expired as of June 30. But, there is a possibility that the date will retreat if the conditions are not conducive.

Therefore, the Premier League allows clubs to continue to use the services of players whose contracts expire next summer. The condition is that clubs must list the players no later than June 23.

“Of course the issue of the contract is our discussion and has been discussed in the last two meetings – but we have so far worked as hard as possible to ensure the club finishes the season with the same squad, before the season is suspended,” said Premier League CEO Richard Masters, as reported by ESPN.

“We agree that the players can extend their contract after June 30 until the season ends. But both parties must agree before the June 23 deadline.”
