Premier League Boss Revealed Clubs Desire to Stop Competition

DBasia.news – Premier League boss Richard Masters revealed the tough club-related meetings related to the continuation of the 2019/2020 season. Even initially the contents of the meeting discussed about stopping the competition.

The Premier League has been suspended since March 12^th because of the corona virus pandemic. During these two months, debate related to whether or not this season continues to roll.

The option that first appeared was that the season was just stopped, with no champions and no degradation. Because it would be impossible to continue the competition with conditions that are not as clear as now.

It was then opposed by many clubs, especially (maybe) Liverpool who will lose the opportunity to win the Premier League for the first time, as well as the first league title in 30 years. Because, they are only two wins from the trophy.

Richards Masters as the Premier League boss did not deny that the clubs had discussed the option at the beginning of the meeting on Monday (05/11/2020) yesterday. Even so, in the process, the majority of clubs want the season to continue.

“I am proud to say that the option to cancel the season was the first to be discussed, but what the contents of the discussion must remain confidential,” Masters said as quoted by ESPN.

“Of course our mission is to finish this season, but it is important to discuss all the options available with the clubs. What I can say is that we want to finish the season. However, do not yet know what the mechanism is like,” he continued.

Regarding plans to continue this season, the Premier League leaves the final decision to the government regarding permits. What is certain is that strict health protocols will be implemented including the possibility of holding matches in neutral venues.

“We have to talk about it going forward. There is a desire to see all the possibilities that occur, how to adapt it, do you like the way we finish this season. After that we discuss again which way is most fair.”
