Premier League clubs are anxious to see the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations schedule

DBasia.news –  The Africa Cup match will begin in 2021. However, the African Football Federation (CAF) has released its format. The match will be held in early 2021 from January to February.

In addition to announcing the change in time for the Africa Cup for 2021, the CAF also described the time for the tournament and the host of the Africa Cup of 2021. CAF also explained the reasons behind the change in time.

“This (African Cup of 2021) will be played in Cameroon from 9 January to 6 February 2021. The date was changed due to weather reasons at the request of Cameroon,” said a statement on the CAF official website.

Changes to the time at the African Cup were not new anymore. Since 1960 the tournament has always been held in the winter or early spring. Most of the reasons are due to the weather and also avoid clashing with other international agendas or tournaments.

The change took place only last year when Egypt hosted and the Africa Cup of Nations was played in the summer. The return of the African Nations Cup in winter is certainly not good news for Premier League clubs, especially those who rely on African players as the mainstay.

Some of the names are like Mohamed Salah (Egypt), Sadio Mane (Senegal), and Naby Keita (Guinea) in Liverpool. There are also other names such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal), Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City), and Nicolas Pepe (Arsenal).

Homework, of course, for the clubs to increase the depth of the squad in anticipation of their departure to the Africa Cup of 2021. 2021 is indeed a pretty busy year because in the same year there is also the Club World Cup.

FIFA also changed its format and played it in June-July 2021 and involved 24 Inter-Club World Cup teams. For those involved in the Africa Cup and the Club World Cup, they don’t take much vacation after the season ends.
